A Cambridge man has been sentenced to three years in prison following his arrest for drug dealing in the area.

Emiljan Durici, who resided on Ditton Walk, was stopped by police while patrolling Newmarket Road on 14th February.

Officers, alerted to a white BMW linked to drug activity, pulled over the vehicle and identified Durici as the driver.

Additional checks revealed Durici had no insurance and further examination uncovered drug-related text messages and £274 in cash.

A physical search led to the discovery of four bags of cocaine worth approximately £160 hidden in Durici's pants.

Upon searching Durici's residence on Ditton Fields, police uncovered over £4,000 in cash, along with 11 bags of cannabis and 19 bags of cocaine valued at more than £2,000 in street terms.

Durici appeared at Peterborough Crown Court on 12th May, where he pled guilty to charges including possession with intent to supply cocaine and cannabis, possession of criminal property, and driving without a licence and insurance.

As well as receiving a prison sentence, Durici has been disqualified from driving for 30 months.

Detective Constable Luisa Mccready, who investigated the case, stressed the importance of disrupting drug trade in the community.

“This sentence reflects the serious harm that drug dealing causes to our communities. Proactive patrols and intelligence-led policing play a vital role in disrupting those involved in the supply of drugs, and we will continue to take action against anyone who thinks they can profit from criminal activity,” Mccready said.
