A suspect has been charged following reports of hate crime incidents targeting members of the Jewish community in Boscombe.

Dorset Police received two reports on the morning of 10th March 2026, alleging that a man verbally abused two Jewish men in the Manor Road area.

Further abuse of one victim reportedly occurred on the morning of 18th March 2026, with the suspect again making references to the victim’s Jewish heritage.

The local neighbourhood policing team conducted a detailed investigation which led to the arrest of a 45-year-old man.

He faces three counts of religiously aggravated public order offences and a charge of criminal damage related to reported damage to a police cell while in custody.

The suspect is set to appear at Poole Magistrates’ Court on 20th March 2026.

Police Constable Jo Morgan from the Bournemouth East Neighbourhood Policing Team emphasised their commitment to tackling hate crimes.

“We are committed to taking action against all reported hate crime towards members of our faith communities in the local area,” Morgan said.

“Our team will continue to provide visible reassurance patrols in the area and engage with all our local faith communities during this time of heightened tensions in light of global events.”

Morgan also urged the public to allow the judicial process to proceed without prejudice and to avoid speculation or commentary online.
