Man arrested after reports of serious sexual assault in Bournemouth public toilet

A man is being questioned by police following reports of a serious sexual assault on a woman in her late teens in a public toilet in Bournemouth.

Police were called out to Undercliff Drive just before 2am yesterday morning (July 6).

A 31-year-old man from Bournemouth has been arrested on suspicion of rape.

Officers have confirmed that the police cordon - which was originally set up - has since been stood down, and we're told that the victim is being supported by specialist officers.

In a statement, officers said: "Dorset Police received a report at 1.57am on Sunday 6 July 2025 that a woman aged in her late teens was raped in a public toilet near to Undercliff Drive in Bournemouth.

"A detailed investigation into the report is being carried out by detectives and specialist officers are supporting the victim.

"A cordon was put in place to allow for an examination of the area to be carried out. This has since been stood down.

"A 31-year-old man from Bournemouth has been arrested on suspicion of rape. He remains in police custody at this time.

"Officers are carrying out increased patrols in the area and we would encourage anyone with concerns to please speak with an officer."
