Man dies in fatal collision in Holton Heath as road remains closed
Dorset Police has opened an investigation into the death on Sunday
A man has died following a fatal single-vehicle car crash near a retail park in Holton Heath.
Dorset Police were alerted to an incident taking place on Wareham Road, close to the Bakers Arms roundabout and the entrance to the Romany Business Park at around 5:35am on Sunday morning (June 1st).
Officers were called to the scene by the local ambulance service, who had already been attending the scene, saying that a silver Ford Fiesta Flight had been involved.
Emergency services reached the scene, but despite the best efforts of the services at the scene, the driver of the car was pronounced dead a short time later.
A number of road closures have been enforced on Wareham Road in order to gather forensic details of the crash, with police saying these closures will likely be in place for the next few hours.
Meanwhile, the family of the man have been informed of his death and are being supported by the force, Dorset Police confirmed.
Speaking on the incident, Sergeant Dave Cotterill from the force said: "Our thoughts go out to the family and loved ones of the man who very sadly died in this collision.
“We are continuing to carry out a detailed investigation to establish the full circumstances of what happened.
“I would urge any witnesses, or anyone who may have captured relevant dashcam footage or doorbell CCTV in the local area, to please make contact with us.
“Finally, I would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding during the road closures.”
