There'll be extra overnight closures of a busy route in Poole over the coming weeks, as part of work to fix a collapsed sewer.

Wessex Water have been working on Ringwood Road, near the junction for Mannings Heath Road and Herbert Avenue since the beginning of January.

That's led to the closure of Ringwood Road southbound - but there'll also be closures affecting Herbert Avenue for five nights, starting today (Tuesday 28th January).

It'll be shut on the eastbound side from 8.00pm until 6.00am tomorrow (Wednesday 29th January) from cleaning work.

A further closure in both directions will also take place from the double roundabout to Manor Avenue on Wednesday and Thursday next week (5th and 6th February) between 7.00pm and 6.00am each night.

That's so the sewer lining can be fitted.

Finally, it'll be shut in the same location from 8.00pm to 6.00am on Monday 10th and Tuesday 11th February, to allow for 'over-pumping set-up' to be removed.

Wessex Water say the project is still on schedule to finish in late February as planned.

A spokesperson said: “The repairs on Ringwood Road have been progressing well and we are carrying out this additional cleaning and relining work, to maintain the condition of the network, during evening to reduce the impact on local roads.

“For each closure, the same diversion route, following Manor Avenue and Alderney Avenue, will be in place and Herbert Avenue will be reopened during the day.

“We are writing to local customers and businesses about these closures and apologise for any inconvenience caused.’’
