Dorset man sentenced for assaults in Bridport and West Bay

A man has been jailed following a series of assaults in West Dorset.
Cade Robert David Adams, aged 20 and of Bridport, was sentenced at Bournemouth Crown Court on Thursday to 14 months imprisonment.
It's after incidents on the 10 January, 21st May and 21st September in Bridport and West Bay.
He was charged with possession of a knife in public, assault, and assaulting an emergency worker, amongst other offences.
Adams will also be subject to a criminal behaviour order for three years.
What happened?
Dorset Police tell us they were called to South Street in Bridport in January 2024, following reports a man was seen chasing another man with a knife.
It was further reported that a man had sustained a head injury.
Officers attended and Adams was detained at the scene.
He was later charged with possession of a bladed article in a public place, assault by beating and threatening behaviour – fear or provocation of violence.
A further incident occurred in May 2024, when Adams assaulted another man in the area of George Street in West Bay by punching and kicking him.
He also assaulted a police officer while being detained following the incident.
The defendant was arrested and later charged with assault by beating and assaulting an emergency worker.
In September 2024, police were called to reports of a man with a golf club in Court Close in Bridport.
It was further reported that the man had caused damage to a garden fence in the area.
Police attended and arrested Adams, who became violent and assaulted three officers by headbutting and kicking them.
The defendant was charged with criminal damage, disorderly behaviour with intent to cause harassment, alarm or distress and three counts of assaulting an emergency worker.
As well as serving time in custody, Adams will also be subject to a criminal behaviour order for three years.
That will exclude him from entering East Street, West Street and South Street in Bridport between the hours of 10.00pm and 6.00am daily, and entering any licensed premises which are part of the Bridport Pubwatch scheme.

“Adams in particular has caused significant issues for the community of Bridport and his conviction is very much in line with the Force values and priorities.
“We are committed to targeting offenders such as Adams, holding those responsible for initiating the violence to account and sending a message that this kind of behaviour will not be tolerated.”
