Cyclist suffers life-changing injuries after crash in Weymouth

A cyclist has been airlifted to hospital with life-changing injuries after being hit by a car in Weymouth.

Dorset Police received a report at 4.55pm yesterday (22 January) of a collision involving a black Ford Fiesta hatchback and a bicycle at Chalbury Corner.

The cyclist – a man aged in his 60s – was flown to hospital by air ambulance for treatment to injuries that are described as life changing.

Police Sergeant Gareth Thomas, of the traffic unit, said: ā€œA road closure was put in place while officers investigated the collision and I would like to thank members of the public for their patience during this time.

ā€œI am appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident, or the movements of the black Ford or the bicycle in the moments leading up to the collision, to please come forward.

ā€œAlso, I am particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have relevant dashcam footage from Littlemoor Road from around 4.40pm to 4.55pm on Monday 22 January 2024.ā€
