Power tools have been stolen from a van in Bournemouth, after the door lock was drilled out during a theft.

A vehicle was targeted just before 10.30pm on Friday 3rd January, while it was parked in Leydene Avenue.

The details have just been released by officers, along with CCTV images of a man officers would like to trace.

Two wet/dry vaccums and a number of Makita branded tools were taken - including a circular saw, blower, impact driver, reciprocating saw and a compressor.

It's believed an offender left the scene in a grey vehicle, that was being driven on cloned number plates.

Police Community Support Investigator Jared Sharman, of Dorset Police, said:

“We recognise the impact thefts of tools such as this have on victims and their livelihoods and we are exploring a number of lines of enquiry to identify the offender in this case.

“We have obtained CCTV images of a man we would like to identify and, while I appreciate they are not the clearest images, I would urge anyone who recognises him from his general build and clothing to please contact us.

“I would also like to hear from anyone who has come across tools matching those described being offered for sale locally or online in suspicious circumstances.”

If you can help with any information, you're asked to contact Dorset Police on 101, quoting reference number 55250001363.
