A dog that had been reported missing for over a month has been safely found swimming in Poole Harbour.

Amber had been reported missing back in April by her handler after she had run away from her foster home near Bradshaw in the New Forest.

The dog - a retriever cross - had initially been rescued as a puppy from the streets in Qatar and brought to the UK by a charity.

After having settled in her new home, Amber decided to go on an adventure, opting to leave her foster family.

But on Saturday (May 31st), Amber was successfully found some 40 miles away from her home in the middle of Poole Harbour in Dorset.

It is believed that she was rescued as she was swimming back from Brownsea Island - which rescuers said she had "apparently been for the last few days".

Amber was found by two men who had been sailing past on a boat, who were able to retrieve the dog and brought it back to shore.

According to KS Angels Rescue, who is now housing Amber after her journey, the dog is now being pampered - as well as having "three leads attached and a guard at all times".
