Woman convicted of murdering husband dies in prison

A woman convicted of murdering her husband in a petrol arson attack in Walsall has died in prison.

60-year-old Georgina Vilella died at HMP Send while serving a minimum 23-year sentence.

An investigation into her death is now underway.

A spokesperson for the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman said:

“The PPO is conducting an independent investigation into the death of Georgina Vilella on 10 May 2026, who was a prisoner at HMP Send. We will make our final investigation report public after the inquest concludes.”
