Two blades seized as men arrested in Wolverhampton

Police have seized two blades, after officers, on specialist Guardian patrols in Wolverhampton, arrested two men in the city.

The team was on a focused patrol in the city centre on Sunday evening (30 August) when attention was drawn to the occupants of a car on ~Stafford Street, who were acting suspiciously.

They detained the driver and passenger and recovered a lock knife and craft knife.

Kaspars Vilcins, 42, was charged, with possessing a knife and an offensive weapon in a public place. He has been bailed to appear at Dudley Magistrates Court on 20 October.

Duran Watson, 23, was wanted on recall to prison and failing to appear at court, charged with assaulting an emergency worker. He was remanded in custody and appeared at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court yesterday (Tuesday), where he was jailed for four weeks, after admitting the offence in September last year.

Project Guardian is a specialist taskforce, which tackles knife crime and youth violence.

There is particular emphasis on reducing knife crime, through a range of tactics from plain-clothed operations, to high visibility patrols.
