A man has died and six others - including four children - have been injured after a car crashed into a building in Tipton.

It happened on High Street in Princes End at around 10:20pm yesterday (2 June).

The driver of the Honda Civic - a 48-year-old man - was seriously injured and pronounced dead at the scene.

Four children - two boys and two girls - were passengers in the car and taken to hospital. The girls are thought to have sustained potentially serious injuries.

A woman, who was another passenger in the car, was also seriously hurt.

A passing cyclist received minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

Police are appealing for information as they investigate what happened.

West Midlands Police said: "The road was closed overnight and has now reopened. Our Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) is keen to hear from anyone who has CCTV or dashcam footage from around the area, and anyone who saw the collision should get in touch with us.

"You can call 101 quoting 6172 of 2 June or speak to us via Live Chat on our website, or email SCIU directly at [email protected]."
