Three knife arrests in separate Wolverhampton incidents
Two teenagers and a man in his 40s have been detained by police as part of their patrols this week
Three people have been arrested in separate knife-related incidents in Wolverhampton.
Specialist officers from West Midlands Police's Project Guardian team on a regular patrol in Wolverhampton city centre on Tuesday 19 May noticed a young man trying to avoid contact with them. As they went to speak with him, he ran but was quickly detained on the Ring Road and a search resulted in a large knife being recovered along with cash and wraps of suspected heroin.
A 17-year-old was arrested and has been charged with possession of an offensive weapon and possessing Class A drugs. He's been released on bail with conditions to appear at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court on 2 June.
Guardian officers also made a further arrest in response to an incident in Wolverhampton yesterday morning, in which a man suffered injuries, which are not believed to be life-changing, at a property in Talbot Road.
During patrols, they spotted a suspect who attempted to make off from them, but he was soon detained in Manor Road, Ettingshall and on carrying out a search a knife was also recovered.
The man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of wounding and possessing an offensive weapon. He remains in custody as enquiries continue.
It comes after cannabis and a knife were seized on Sunday after officers arrested a man who tried to run from them in Bilston.
Following a brief chase he was arrested in gardens in Mount Pleasant. The 19-year-old, arrested on possession of class B drugs and a knife, has been bailed with conditions as investigations continue.
