Teenager seriously injured in Birmingham city centre stabbing
A teenager has been seriously injured following a stabbing in Birmingham.
A 17-year-old boy is seriously injured following a stabbing in Birmingham city centre.
He was attacked in Victoria Square at around 8:30pm yesterday (23 June) and left with life-threatening injuries.
He was taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition.
It's understood a fight broke out between two groups.
Detective Superintendent Lucy Kirwan, Birmingham Police, said: “We know this will cause concern to those living, working and visiting the city centre and we will have an increased presence in the area to offer reassurance.
“The incident happened at a busy time last night, and we know there were a lot of people in the area.
“If you have any mobile phone footage of what happened or can provide any information then please contact us.”
Officers are reviewing CCTV footage and speaking with witnesses.
A cordon remains in place while the scene is forensically examined.
