A man has died after a car hit a tree in Smethwick in the early hours of this morning (4th June).
Officers are now investigating after they were called to the scene on Oldbury Road before 12:45am.
They found ambulance staff treating a man in his 40s. Police believe the vehicle had been stolen earlier that night from an address in Oldbury.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “Upon arrival, ambulance staff discovered a man who was the driver of a car which had been involved in a collision with a tree.
“He was extricated from the vehicle by the fire service. Once extricated, he was assessed and was in a critical condition. Ambulance staff quickly began administering advanced life support to him.
“Unfortunately, despite their best efforts it became clear that nothing more could be done to save him and he was confirmed deceased at the scene.”
