An investigation has been launched following the discovery of a woman injured in the Priory Woods area of Sandwell Valley Country Park.

The incident occurred on Monday, 29th June, at approximately 10:15am, and subsequent enquiries have led officers to believe the woman was raped.

She was taken to hospital for assessment and has been discharged. She is currently receiving support from specially trained officers.

Detective Inspector Phil Griffiths from the Public Projection Unit has stated that officers have been reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding area, analysing forensic evidence, and engaging with anyone who may have crucial information about what occurred.

Neighbourhood officers continue to patrol the area, and specialist officers will be revisiting Sandwell Valley Country Park to gather further information.

Detective Griffiths remarked, “We know the park would have been busy on a Monday morning with people enjoying the sunshine. We need to hear from you if you saw anything that was suspicious.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact the police on 101, quoting incident number 20/304639/26.
