Walsall council is asking residents, businesses and community groups to help shape the new ten year waste strategy.

It includes a plant to become a zero waste to landfill county, a commitment to cutting waste and increasing recycling.

Walsall Councillor Suky Samra is part of the project and says;

“The purpose of this strategy is set out a clear long-term vision of how we manage waste in Walsall. It's about reducing what we throw away, increasing recycling and reuse. Ensuring that waste is treated as a valuable resource rather than something to dispose of.”

“I just want to emphasize that this isn't just about bins and rubbish, it's about changing how we value materials and how we work together as a borough to protect our environment.

“It affects all of us whether you're a householder, local business or part of a community group. How we manage waste directly impacts our environment, our local services, and even the cost of living.

"We want to hear from the people who use these services every day. Your experiences, ideas, and concerns are vital to making this strategy practical, inclusive, and successful.”

Aconsultation is currently open and will run until 21st August. The council says feedback received will be used to help finalise the strategy later this year.
