A man has been jailed for a stabbing in Birmingham.

Just after midnight on 11 April 2024, we were called to a property on Whitehall Road, Handsworth, where a man was found seriously injured. He was taken to hospital in a life-threatening condition, but thankfully survived.

Officers arrested a man at the scene, and recovered a metal bar and a knife, which we later found out were the weapons used in the attack.

Razvan Mut, 35, was charged and eventually pleaded guilty to wounding with intent, and possession of an offensive weapon.

Detectives from our Major Crime Unit carried out an extensive investigation, including reviewing CCTV footage, and discovered that Mut was responsible for a violent assault which lasted 10 minutes, using weapons. Thankfully, a member of the public witnessed the violent attack and called emergency services, which brought the attack to an end.

Mut, of no fixed address, was jailed for 12 years last Wednesday (29 April) at Birmingham Crown Court.
