Man charged over rape in Handsworth

Police have charged a man over the rape of a woman in Handsworth.

Officers yesterday detained a 52-year-old man in connection with the attack on Sunday evening (9 August).

Tahir Safi, of no fixed address, has been charged with rape and remanded to appear before Birmingham Magistrates Court tomorrow (12 August).

The woman is continuing to be supported by specialist officers from the Public Protection Unit.
