Gunman jailed after man shot in Birmingham
A gunman has been jailed after a man was shot in Birmingham.
A gunman has been jailed for more than 14 years after a man was shot in Birmingham.
It was during a fight in Bartley Green on 28 August 2024.
The victim was driving a van when he got into an argument with someone in an Audi. They both pulled up on Glen Side and the victim was joined by his brother.
A fight broke out and Jordan Edwards, 32, arrived in another car and shot a 48-year-old man in the stomach.
The victim's brother, who was known to Edwards, was hit on the head with a brick.
Edwards managed to escape and hide from police until January 2025. After being spotted by officers, he ran into a flat on Hylton Street.
Officers forced their way in and he was arrested. In the kitchen, a loaded 9mm pistol was recovered, along with cocaine worth around £15,000, and £10,000 hidden in a washing basket.
Edwards was found guilty at trial of possession of a prohibited weapon and ammunition, as well as wounding, and possession of cocaine with intent to supply.
He was jailed for 14 years and six months at Birmingham Crown Court on Friday.
Det Sgt Michael Fisher, from the Major Crime Unit at West Midlands Police, said: “This was extreme violence using a firearm, on a summer’s afternoon in Birmingham.
“Guns have no place on our streets, and we work around the clock to bring those who think it’s acceptable to carry or use them to justice.
“Edwards will now spend years behind bars, and we’ve taken another gun off the streets as a result.”
