A man has been charged following a serious assault in Handsworth, Birmingham.

A man in his 60s was found unconscious on Soho Road - near Rookery Road - shortly before 11pm on Thursday (23 April).

He remains in hospital with serious injuries, with police suspecting he had been punched.

Kumarlo McKoy, 36, has since been charged and appeared at Birmingham Magistrates Court yesterday (28 April). He is due to appear at crown court next month.

In a statement on Facebook, Birmingham Police said: "We are continuing to carry out a full range of enquiries and would now like to speak to a second man in connection with our investigation.

"We would also like to hear from anyone who was there at the time, or who has footage from the area.
