A Birmingham man has been jailed for multiple counts of sexual offences against a child, including supplying her cocaine.

Mohammed Mutasir, of Aldgate Grove in Birmingham, is set to spend 7 years in prison for the offences carried out in April 2022.

He was found guilty of four counts of engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a child and two counts of supplying class A drugs to his victim.

A court heard how the 48-year-old groomed a 15-year-old by sending her messages via social media.

They then met in a car park, where Mutasir supplied the girl with cocaine. Under the influence of the class A drug and alcohol, he sexually abused the girl in Birmingham.

A similar pattern of events then took place on further occasions.

Detective Constable Julia Proctor, from the Child Exploitation Team in North Worcestershire said: “Mutasir's actions were abhorrent.

"He exploited his victim, building her trust by grooming her on social media before arranging to meet her and drugging her for his own sexual gain.

“The outcome at court does not take away the pain the victim and the family have suffered, but I hope that now Mutasir is behind bars means they can find some solace from that.

“We should never forget the victim who has been incredibly brave to talk about the traumatic experience they suffered in 2022.

"No child should ever be put through abhorrent acts such as this and we would encourage anyone who has been or is a victim of child exploitation or knows someone who has or is a victim to come forward.

“We take reports of sexual assault and sexual offences incredibly seriously and will continue to seek prosecution against anybody who thinks it is okay to commit these types of offences.

“You will be listened to, and we will continue to take action against offenders," she said.

Cases of sexual assault can be reported on the West Mercia Police website. Local support is also available via the Victim Support Advice Line.
