A man has been jailed for a violent assault on a woman in Birmingham, including throwing a clothes dryer at her.
A woman called police for help last March after Alex Byrne threatened to kill her.
The 39-year-old attacked the woman a number of times including biting her.
Byrne of South Road, Stockland Green was arrested outside a restaurant in June after assaulting door staff.
He was charged with intentional strangulation, two counts of assault, four counts of criminal damage and sending malicious communications.
On February 13 2025 he was sentenced to five years and four months in prison at Birmingham Crown Court.
Detective Inspector Phil Griffiths from West Midlands Police, said: “Byrne is a dangerous man who subjected this woman to awful physical and mental violence.
“We have supported the woman throughout this difficult process, kept her safe and put her in touch with charities for further support," he said.
