A man from Birmingham has been jailed for 12 years for engaging in sexual activity with a vulnerable teenage girl.

Muhammed Usman, 39, of Bloomsbury Street pleaded guilty to seven charges of sexual activity with a female with a mental health disorder and one charge of possessing indecent images of children.

Hirah Khan, from the Adult Complex Investigation team at West Midlands Police said: “Usman took advantage of a vulnerable teenage girl for his own sexual gratification. We are pleased with the sentence which sends out a clear message that people who behave in this depraved way will be convicted and will spend many years behind bars.

“We are thankful to the survivor of his abuse and her family who helped us as we investigated right up to its successful conclusion.”

Usman was caught last June when he was reported to police for abusing the girl.

Police seized his phone and discovered videos he had taken of the abuse, which identified both himself and the survivor of his abuse.

Usman's sentence included five years extended on license as well as being placed on the sex offenders register and given a retraining order for life.
