Birmingham man admits sexually abusing child for years
A Birmingham man faces a lengthy prison sentence after admitting sexually abusing a child for girls.
A man from Birmingham is facing a length prison sentence after admitting abusing a child for years.
Saptarshi Mitra, 42, initially denied the charges, but changed his plea to guilty at court.
Mitra had been abusing his victim for several years until she bravely came forwarded and reported the abuse. Police arrested Mitra and seized his mobile phone which contained indecent images of her.
He admitted 13 charges, including two counts of rape, after abusing his victim for years.
Detective Sergeant Claire Hankinson, from the Complex Child Abuse Investigation Team at West Midlands Police, said: “Mitra took advantage of his young victim but she had the courage to report the abuse. Mitra now faces a lengthy jail sentence when he next appears in court.
“We hope her bravery encourages other young people subjected to sexual abuse to come forward.”
Mitra is due to be sentenced in September.
