Appeal after two men stabbed and third attacked in Birmingham
A 31 one year old has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder
Police are appealing for information after two men were stabbed and a third man attacked in Birmingham.
Officers were called to Lozells Road, shortly before 9am on Monday morning, after a man in his 30’s was stabbed.
Paramedics treated the man at the scene before he was taken to hospital by ambulance with injuries described as life threatening.
Officers quickly arrested a 31-year-old man nearby on suspicion of attempted murder. He was taken to custody where he remains as we continue with our enquiries.
As a result of the investigation officers are now investigating a second stabbing on Finch Road, Lozells. This occurred just after 9am, where a 30-year-old man was taken to hospital after receiving life-threatening injuries, as well as an incident where a man was attacked on Witton Road earlier at around 7am. He went to hospital with injuries but has since been discharged. Police believe the suspect is linked to the two new incidents which have come to light.
Detective Chief Superintendent Ed Foster, who leads the Major Crime Unit, said: “We are in the early stages of our investigation. We would appeal for witnesses or anyone with any information including mobile phone or dash cam footage to please get in touch with us.”
We will be making a referral to the IOPC following previous contact earlier in the day with the suspect.
We understand how distressing this incident is for the community and will have more officers in the area today to offer reassurance.
