Man left with life-threatening injuries after serious crash in Wokingham

A 23-year-old man from Reading has been arrested by Thames Valley Police

A man has been left with life-threatening injuries following a serious multi-vehicle collision in Wokingham.

Officers from Thames Valley Police were alerted to an incident taking place on Loddon Bridge Road near the George Public House just before 8:45pm on Thursday night (July 10th).

When officers arrived at the scene, they found four vehicles had been involved in a serious crash, involving a Ford Mondeo, two Volkswagen Golfs and a Piaggio motorcycle.

The rider of the motorcycle was particularly heavily injured and was taken to hospital by emergency services a short time later. The man, who is aged in his 20s, currently remains in hospital in a critical condition.

Thames Valley Police arrested a 23-year-old man on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and currently remains in police custody.

Speaking on the case, Sergeant Ed Crofts from Thames Valley Police said that the incident had taken place on a "busy stretch" of the road.

“I am appealing to anybody who witnessed the collision, or who may have dash-cam, CCTV or mobile phone footage to please get in touch with Thames Valley Police," he explained.

“I would be particularly keen to hear from anybody who witnessed the driving of one of the VW Golfs, which is black in colour, to please come forward.

“I believe this vehicle was driving from the A329 Wokingham Road direction down Loddon Bridge Road."
