Two men arrested after suspicious rural incident near Tadley

Two men have been arrested, after officers responded to a report of suspicious rural incident near Tadley last night.

We were called at 10.57pm on Thursday 18 June, after unknown people had gained access to land at a property on Pitfield Lane, near Mortimer Common.

It was reported that they were shining torches and may have had weapons.

Officers deployed to the area and located a Ford Focus containing two men and three children. The vehicle was searched and officers found balaclavas, slingshots and stones.

A 34 year-old man, from Mortimer, was arrested on suspicion of:

Conspire to commit a burglary dwelling with intent to steal

Possess an offensive weapon in a public place

A 45 year-old man, from Mortimer, was arrested on suspicion of:

Conspire to commit a burglary dwelling with intent to steal

Going equipped for burglary

They remain in custody while enquiries continue.
