A man who stole more than £11,000 worth of goods during a six-month shoplifting spree in Slough and Maidenhead has been jailed.

Anthony Robertson (36), of no fixed address, admitted repeatedly stealing from shops like Tesco, Boots and Co-Op between May 2024 and November last year.

In total, he pleaded guilty to 14 counts of theft.

He was sentenced at Reading Crown Court on Friday 13 March to 28 months in prison.

DC Michael Allington from East Berkshire’s Priority Crime Team, said: “Anthony Robertson targeted the same shops over a prolonged period of time, showing a complete disregard for the hard-working staff who were faced with his criminality repeatedly.

“Shoplifting is not a victimless crime, and we recognise the impact that it has on businesses and those who work in retail, as well as those shopping and visiting our towns, cities and high streets.

“I hope this case serves as a warning to shoplifters that Thames Valley Police will investigate and do everything we can to bring offenders before the courts.”
