Over 60 firefighters have been tackling a large fire at a thatched roof cottage in Basingstoke.

Hampshire Fire and Rescue were called out on Tuesday afternoon (17 March) to the property on Viables Lane.

Crews are used compressed air foam and jet hoses to extinguish the flames and prevent them spreading further.

The fire service said: "Unfortunately, the property has been 100% damaged by fire."

At around 6pm the incident was scaled down from six to five fire engines but crews were expected to stay at the scene overnight.
