A sentencing date has been set for the former mayor of Bracknell and her son.

Naheed Ejaz served as the mayor between 2023 and 2024 and her son Diwan Khan was the mayor’s consort.

Last month at Winchester Crown Court, Khan was found guilty of the rape of a 15-year-old girl and his mother of perverting the course of justice.

The crime has led to significant changes at Bracknell Forest Borough Council with the resignation of the council leader and the cabinet member for children and young people.

The priorities of the council have also been changed due to the case, and the body has been focused on protecting women and girls.

Now a sentencing date has been set for Khan and Ejaz.

They are due to hear their sentences on Thursday, April 30 at Salisbury Crown Court.
