A 34-year-old woman from Gosport has been banned from driving for four years after leading police on a dangerous high-speed chase while under the influence of drugs.

Tia Paget, of Ashley Court, was involved in a 13-mile pursuit reaching speeds of up to 130mph.

Dash cam footage captured Paget evading police as she drove on the A34 northbound near Whitchurch on 13th April, with cocaine and cannabis in her system.

Details of the pursuit

The black Vauxhall Insignia driven by Paget was flagged by police at around 3pm for failing to stop.

Paget attempted to elude the officer by speeding, dangerously undertaking vehicles, weaving through traffic, and cutting up a lorry on a roundabout.

The chase concluded on the A339 in Newbury, where Paget was finally apprehended after getting stuck in static traffic.

She subsequently failed a roadside drug wipe for both cannabis and cocaine, with small quantities of these drugs found inside the car.

Court sentencing

Paget appeared at Portsmouth Crown Court on 20th August.

She was sentenced for multiple offences, including drug driving, dangerous driving, driving without insurance, and possession of cocaine and cannabis.

In addition to the driving ban, Paget received a 10-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, alongside 100 hours of unpaid work and 12 rehabilitation requirement days.

The consequences of her reckless actions serve as a stark reminder of the dangers of driving under the influence.
