Fifth teenager arrested as part of Basingstoke attempted murder investigation
A man in his 50s suffered stab wounds in the town on Monday night
A fifth teenager has been arrested following a serious assault in Basingstoke, after a man was found with stab wounds.
Emergency services responded to a call at 9.32pm on Monday 7th September regarding a man who was discovered with stab wounds on Normanton Road after being assaulted on a footpath near Lyford Road.
The alleged victim, a man in his 50s, was taken to hospital for treatment of serious injuries but has since been discharged.
Hampshire Police have confirmed a 14-year-old boy from Basingstoke was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder this morning (Friday 11th September 2026). He remains in custody as investigations continue.
Previously, a 19-year-old man, an 18-year-old man, and two 17-year-old boys—three from Basingstoke and one from Newbury—were also arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and have been bailed with conditions to allow further enquiries.
Police are seeking witnesses to assist with their investigation into the incident’s circumstances.
