Basingstoke property partially closed amid drug and anti-social behaviour concerns
Court action follows arrests and discovery of suspected Class A drugs
Authorities have secured a partial closure order on a Basingstoke property following reports of drug-related activity and anti-social behaviour.
Evidence concerning safety issues was presented to Basingstoke Magistrates Court on Friday 19th June, revealing troubling activities at an address on Shelley Close in Popley.
The court determined such behaviour is "likely to result in serious nuisance to members of the public," leading to the imposition of the closure order.
Order Details
The partial closure order stipulates that only authorised individuals may enter or remain at the property for the next three months.
Any unauthorised presence constitutes a criminal offence, subject to arrest.
This decision comes after police uncovered approximately 100 wraps of suspected Class A drugs in the property's garden on Wednesday 10th June, resulting in the arrest of two men and a woman.
Police Actions
Basingstoke Inspector Tracey Purcell expressed satisfaction with the court's decision, stating police acted swiftly upon receiving reports.
"We took swift action, made arrests and gathered evidence to put before the courts," Purcell said. "I’m pleased with the result at court today and I hope this proves that we listen to your concerns and do all we can to help reduce anti-social behaviour and drug-related activity in the town."
The closure reflects local efforts to combat disturbances and maintain public safety in Basingstoke.
