Woman in her 80s seriously injured after collision in Rickmansworth

Police appeal for witnesses and footage involving road sweeper truck

A woman in her 80s was seriously injured in a collision involving a road sweeper truck in Rickmansworth.

The incident happened at around 8.20am on the 2nd December on Main Avenue in the Moor Park area, as the DAF road sweeper truck was travelling towards Pembroke Road cleaning the side of the road.

The woman was taken to hospital, where she remains in a stable condition.

Police attended the scene alongside the East of England Ambulance Service.

The driver of the truck was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving.

Detective Sergeant Shona Birkby, from the Serious Injury Collision Unit, is calling for witnesses, CCTV footage from properties in the area, and dash cam footage to assist the investigation.

"If you witnessed the collision or saw the sweeper travelling in the area prior to it, please report it to us," said DS Birkby.
