Watford signs Georgian defender Saba Goglichidze on loan
21-year-old joins from Udinese for the remainder of the season
Watford has secured the loan signing of 21-year-old Georgian defender Saba Goglichidze from Udinese for the rest of the 2025/26 season.
Goglichidze is an international teammate of Giorgi Chakvetadze and will wear the number three shirt during his time at the club. Standing at 6ft 4in, he adds physical presence and versatility, being able to play at both centre-back and right-back.
The defender is known for his aerial ability and strength, alongside his experience at the top-flight level in Serie A and as a full international.
Goglichidze began his career with his hometown club Torpedo Kutaisi and was part of the squad that lifted the Georgian Cup in 2022.
In 2024, he moved to Serie A side Empoli, where he made 36 appearances and scored one goal. His performances earned him a five-year deal with Udinese in August 2025.
On the international stage, Goglichidze made his debut for Georgia in a UEFA Nations League match against the Czech Republic in September 2024. He has since earned eight caps for his country.
