Three men have been arrested in Watford in connection with a burglary investigation after police received a report of suspicious activity at a residential property.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, 12th October, with a call made to the police control room at 3.45am about two individuals entering a property under renovation in the Park ward area.

A van parked outside left the scene shortly after.

Responding officers from the Response team located the van and stopped it on Orchard Drive, where a search revealed several suspected stolen items and building materials.

The suspects, aged 18, 19, and 20, were arrested on suspicion of burglary but have been bailed while further inquiries are conducted.

Police also seized the van.

Watford Chief Inspector Dan Rainbird commended the public's role in the arrests.

"This is a great example of how quick reporting from members of the public can lead to positive results," he said.

Chief Inspector Rainbird urged residents to review their home security as evenings get darker.
