Emmanuel Avogo has been jailed for life following his conviction for the murder of accountant Adam Khan in a machete ambush on Humberstone Road, Luton.

The 17-year-old, together with a teenage girl, lured Khan, 26, to a meeting on 31st August last year.

When Khan arrived, Avogo chased him and fatally stabbed him with a machete.

At Harrow Crown Court, Avogo was sentenced by Mr Justice Bennathan to life imprisonment with a minimum of 20 years, after being found guilty of murder.

The girl, whose identity remains protected, received a two-year detention and training order for manslaughter.

The court heard Avogo was a habitual knife carrier with a previous record of violent incidents.

Mr Justice Bennathan permitted the press to name Avogo to deter further knife crime, given his violent history and denial of involvement in the murder.

Khan had approached the girl offering cannabis in exchange for sexual favours, a plan she created with Avogo to ambush him.

The court described Avogo's actions as “pure evil," with Judge Bennathan noting little hope for his reform.

Prosecutor Kate Bex KC revealed the defendants had orchestrated a plan leading to Khan’s fatal confrontation with Avogo.

Despite Avogo's denial, CCTV captured Khan's attempt to confront Avogo before being fatally stabbed five times.

The case unfolded Avogo's troubled history, including previous knife offences and a recorded assault of a police officer.

Post-stabbing, the girl searched online to delete social media and continued her efforts to evade detection.

Mr Khan's family shared heartfelt statements about their loss, expressing the impact of his untimely death.

Both defendants were led away from the dock, conveying final gestures to their families as the trial concluded.
