Police have issued a CCTV image of two people they wish to identify in connection with an attempted kidnap and blackmail incident involving a man in Hertford earlier this year.

The incident took place between 12:20am and 12:50am on Sunday 8 March, when the victim, who had been out in Hertford, was standing in Parliament Square. He was approached by two men who struck up a conversation with him.

According to the investigation, the pair offered to drive the man back to his home in Broxbourne. However, during the journey, they allegedly forced him to hand over his mobile phone and unlock it.

While the victim was still in the vehicle, the suspects are said to have used his phone to carry out transactions totalling several thousand pounds. They also contacted his wife, demanding money and threatening to share intimate images found on the device if payment was not made.

Officers have released the CCTV image of two men believed to have been in the area at the time. They are urging the public to come forward, as the individuals pictured may have information that could assist the ongoing investigation.
