M40 collision leaves motorcycle passenger critically injured

A man from Maidenhead has been arrested following the crash near High Wycombe

A young woman is in hospital with life-threatening injuries following a traffic collision on the M40 near High Wycombe.

The incident took place on the London-bound carriageway between junction four for High Wycombe and junction three for Loudwater around 8.40pm yesterday.

The victim, who was a pillion passenger on a grey motorcycle, is said to be in a critical condition.

The crash involved three vehicles: the motorcycle, a black Volkswagen Polo, and a blue Hyundai Tucson.

The motorcycle rider, a 20-year-old man from Maidenhead, has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving and is currently in police custody.

Both drivers of the cars involved are cooperating with police.

Thames Valley Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward with any information or dash-cam footage.

Detective Sergeant Oliver Cahill-Smith, of the Joint Operations Serious Collision Investigation Unit, has encouraged potential witnesses to call 101 or report on the website citing reference number 43260088366.

“If you were driving on the M40 or the Handy Cross roundabout at around 8.40pm yesterday and have a dash-cam, please check your recording in case it has captured something that could assist us and get in touch if you have.”
