New EV chargepoints installed for Luton council housing to support sustainable travel
Residents without driveways or off-street parking can now charge their electric vehicles
Electric vehicle (EV) chargepoints have been installed at five council-owned housing locations in Luton, making sustainable travel choices more accessible for residents.
The initiative is the result of a collaboration between Luton Council and EV chargepoint operator Believ.
Chargepoints are available at Vadis Close, The Moakes, The Crossways, The Green and Bailey Street.
Councillor Adrees Latif, portfolio holder for Sustainable Development and Highways, said the new chargepoints aim to support residents living in council housing.
"Access to convenient EV charging is an important part of supporting residents who want to make the switch to an electric vehicle," he said.
Guy Bartlett, CEO of Believ, is pleased to work with Luton Council to expand the charging network.
Some chargepoints are open to the public, subject to parking restrictions, with plans for further expansion of the EV charging infrastructure.
Believ has funded the chargepoints and oversees their operation and maintenance.
