Closure orders imposed on five Hertsmere properties to combat crime and ASB
Police and local council address drugs and anti-social behaviour at nuisance addresses
Five properties in Hertsmere have been issued closure orders as part of ongoing police efforts to address crime and anti-social behaviour (ASB) in the area.
A full closure order for three months was granted for a flat in Welham Close, Borehamwood, on 9th October, linked to persistent ASB and drugs.
St Albans Magistrates’ Court also granted a three-month partial closure order to a house in Palmer Avenue, Bushey, on 25th September following numerous ASB reports.
Two properties received orders on 23rd September: a full closure order for a flat on London Road, Shenley, and a partial closure at a flat in Lamberton Court, Borehamwood, due to drug-related activity and other criminal behaviour.
A flat in Farrington Avenue, Bushey, was granted a three-month partial closure order by Hatfield Magistrates’ Court on 16th September due to persistent ASB by young people.
The closure orders were secured by the Hertsmere Community Safety Unit under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, imposing strict entry restrictions. Full closures prohibit any entry, while partial closures allow only the named tenant and authorized personnel to enter.
Sergeant Gary Yam of the Hertsmere Community Safety Unit expressed that these actions aim to reassure residents by mitigating ASB impacts and ensuring long-term solutions.
Cllr Chris Gray praised the partnership approach in Hertsmere, emphasizing ongoing support for residents to ensure safety and quality of life improvements.
