Keith Sayers, a serving Hertfordshire Police Community Support Officer, has appeared at St Albans Magistrates’ Court today, Friday 14 November.

The 42-year-old is charged with misconduct in a public office between 1 September 2021 and 31 December 2024, sexual communication with a child aged under 16 on 10 June 2024 and three counts of unauthorised access to police systems on 12 June 2023, 5 January 2024 and 9 January 2024.

He was conditionally bailed to reappear at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on Friday 28 November.

Hertfordshire Constabulary Chief Superintendent, Di Whiteside, said: “I know this case will cause concern amongst our local communities and residents and also the wider community.

“I want to reassure people that we take allegations of this nature extremely seriously. We will always prioritise protecting and safeguarding victims of crime and preventing any further risk to the wider public.”

The constabulary referred the case to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) for investigation. Sayers was suspended following his arrest in January 2024 and remains suspended. The force’s Professional Standards Department (PSD) is aware.
