Police in Hatfield are increasing patrols and urging residents to remain vigilant following a spate of robberies in the area.
The incidents have occurred around alleyways near Asda, including locations such as The Common, Queensway, and St Peter's Close.
Officers are investigating whether the robberies are connected, with suspects described as young men, often wearing hoods or balaclavas. Some offenders were reported to be armed with a knife.
Welwyn Hatfield Chief Inspector Chris Rutter assured that efforts are underway to identify the culprits responsible for these crimes.
“Whilst thankfully nobody has been hurt, these have been frightening incidents for the victims,” Rutter said.
“The robberies have been occurring at varying times across weekdays and weekends. I would like to urge the public to be vigilant and aware of your surroundings."
He advised that victims were often targeted for carrying visible valuables such as expensive shopping bags, phones, or cash.
Rutter noted that increased patrols are part of a strategy to alleviate local concerns and to aid ongoing inquiries.
Residents with information or footage that might assist police can contact local authorities to support the investigation.
