MP urges the Government to scrap Buckinghamshire housing target
Greg Smith has criticised plans to build ninety-five thousand new homes.
A Buckinghamshire MP is urging the Government to scrap plans to build ninety-five thousand new homes across the county.
It's as the County Council moves ahead with its legally required Local Plan, which'll shape development over the next twenty years.
Greg Smith MP has raised serious concerns about the scale of the proposed housing target. He warns that Buckinghamshire does not have the capacity or infrastructure to support such a rapid expansion.
"This figure is completely out of proportion to what Buckinghamshire can reasonably sustain. There is no room for development on this scale without significant damage to our countryside, and our roads, schools, GP surgeries, and local services are already under strain."
He continued, "I will always stand up for Buckinghamshire and defend our countryside from overdevelopment. Residents deserve a genuine say in shaping the future of our communities, and I urge everyone to make their voices heard against these excessive government targets."
Residents are being asked to take part in upcoming consultations and let their views be known on the proposed housing numbers.
