Bucks stage school pays tribute to former pupil killed by tiger
An investigation has been launched
A stage school in Buckinghamshire has paid tribute to one of its former pupils who died after being attacked by a tiger at Yorkshire Wildlife Park.
The Jackie Palmer Stage School in High Wycombe shared a heartfelt tribute on Facebook, expressing their sadness at his loss and recalling his growth as a performer.
The tribute read, "We loved watching William grow, both as a person and as a performer. It was a privilege to be part of his journey."
William Chapman, who was visiting the park alone, entered the tiger enclosure on Saturday (10 October).
City of Doncaster Council has launched a health and safety investigation, led by Dan Swaine, executive director of place.
The park, which has been shut since the incident, has confirmed that the tiger involved—named Altai—is safe and will not be euthanised.
Emergency services pronounced Chapman dead at the scene following the attack.
In a previous statement on social media, the wildlife park said “many, many people” had contacted them about Altai, the Amur tiger involved in the incident, and it confirmed he is “safe and well”.
