A man has been sentenced to three years and four months in prison for terrorism offences stemming from his extreme right-wing ideology.

Nicholas Gilpin, 23, was sentenced following an investigation by Counter Terrorism Policing South East (CTPSE).

He was found guilty of four counts of possessing terrorist information, encouraging terrorism, and two counts of stirring up racial hatred after a four-week trial that concluded on 23rd October.

Gilpin was arrested on 18th October 2021 in Hereford, where authorities seized electronic devices containing racist, anti-Semitic content and instructions on weaponry and explosives.

The devices included documents detailing how to kill with close combat weapons and how to commit other illegal activities.

Gilpin also shared materials aimed at inciting racial hatred via the Telegram messaging app, and he made statements on 16th March 2021 encouraging terrorism.

He was subsequently charged on 20th January 2023.

Detective Chief Superintendent Claire Finlay, Head of CTPSE, commented, "From our investigation it is clear that Gilpin held an extreme right-wing ideology – sharing his racist and anti-Semitic views with others online - and was in possession of terrorist documents which had the sole aim of causing harm to our society."
