Appeal after woman allegedly assaulted by man in Bishop's Stortford

The incident is said to have taken place on Monday evening on Dunmow Road

Police are appealing for information after reports that a woman was assaulted in Bishop's Stortford on Monday evening (13 April).

It's reported that a man approached a woman who was walking on Dunmow Road and assaulted her between 8.30pm and 9.30pm.

Detective Inspector Maxine Matthews said:

"We are in the early stages of our investigation, and our victim is being supported by officers.

“I want to ask anyone who may have been driving or walking on Dunmow Road, or in the immediate vicinity, to get in touch if they noticed anything suspicious, or if they saw anyone walking along the road around this time.

“Our investigation is continuing, with officers working around the clock to identify further lines of enquiry. Any information you have could be vital.

“You will see an increased police presence around this location today and in the coming days, and we are asking the public to report any suspicious activity to us."
