There's a happy ending to the search for an Ayrshire mum who was reported missing after planning a solo walk across one of Scotland's most remote areas.

Police raised the alarm this morning after Joan Roberts, from Barmill, was out of contact for more than three days.

The 57-year-old had set out from Glengarnock on Saturday with the intention to walk solo across Rannoch Moor to Fort William.

An update sent out a midday saying has been found safe and well.

Joan is experienced hillwalker and has successfully completed the walk previously.
