Fire at historic Swindon Mechanics Institute investigated as arson
Emergency services called amid blaze at derelict building
A fire broke out at the derelict Mechanics Institute in Swindon's Emlyn Square early this morning.
Firefighters responded to the blaze at around 6:20am.

Surrounding roads were closed while the fire was extinguished, but searches found no one inside and there were no reported injuries.
Authorities believe the fire was deliberately set and are treating it as arson.
They suspect a group of young people were spotted near the building prior to the fire.
Police are seeking information from anyone who noticed unusual activity in the area, particularly between 7pm on 9th April and 7am this morning.
Those who may have relevant dash cam footage are urged to come forward.
